Artist Spotlight

Jake Pfeifer

Jake is the head artist and owner of Hot Glass Alley, Charlotte’s only hot glass studio and gallery. From a young age he knew he wanted to work with glass as a medium and 3 years after he graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology he started Hot Glass Alley.

Jake is an established American artist; among the next generation of craftsmen working with their hands; carrying forward glass making traditions that are thousands of years old. He uses contemporary styles, and traditional Italian and Swedish techniques that reflect a personal glass art style of his own expression and design. Jake’s vision for each piece encompasses an understanding of the properties and movement of glass and application of color.

We are thrilled to partner with Hot Glass Alley on custom barware, annual bottle releases and many more opportunities. For more information on Jake and the Hot Glass Alley studio and gallery, check out their website.

Melissa Stutts

An artist since childhood, Melissa studied Art and Design at Appalachian State University before working professionally as a graphic designer and art director. Although her previous concentration was mixed media painting, she was introduced to encaustic medium by a friend and was hooked immediately. Melissa fell in love with the unique sculptural quality of beeswax and demar resin and took the opportunity to pivot and immerse herself in everything encaustic from that point forward.

A true Charlotte native, Melissa lives in East Charlotte with her husband and two Australian Shepherds. She likes to keep her hands messy and her heart curious.

Unspoken Distilling Co has had the honor of working with Melissa to develop our brand’s style and logo. To learn more about Melissa’s art and digital design portfolio, visit her website.
